Casualty trip leads to massive book donation

TRIPS to the Royal Oldham Hospital are much easier for children now that the Saddleworth Round Table has donated £1,000 worth of books and equipment to keep them entertained.
The members donated a year’s supply of children’s books and a book rack to Accident and Emergency so the youngsters could be kept busy during stressful visits to the hospital.
The idea came from Round Table member Mike Coulter, who recently visited the A and E department with his son.
Along with the books, the group also donated a child-friendly thermometer and a toddler’s bead frame, which helps the young children who can’t yet read.
Mike’s PA, Lillie Winterbottom, said: “Mike’s trip to A&E with his own family has managed to fund over £1,000 worth of really useful equipment
“The Round Table would also like to thank Madeleine Lindley Books for their contributions to the project, the specialist children’s book suppliers from Oldham have virtually doubled the book order free of charge.”
