MOLLIE Reeves at her 100th birthday celebration
ONE of Oldham’s oldest residents, who took a pride in keeping fit, has died at the age of 100.
Mollie Reeves marked her century in March this year, when she revealed her newest way of staying fit was by boxing.
The sprightly pensioner left many a younger person standing at weekly keep-fit sessions at St Mark’s Court sheltered housing scheme in Milne Street, Chadderton.
And one of her favourite activities was pulling on her boxing gloves and going a few rounds with the instructor.
Mollie enjoyed an active life — she was still dancing a decade ago and climbed Mount Vesuvius, near Naples, when she was 88 years old, while on holiday.
She lived half her life in Stanley Street, Chadderton, and outlived her two daughters.
She died on Saturday in the Royal Oldham Hospital and leaves behind two grand-daughters and one grandson.
