A £20 MILLION development will bring 100 jobs and a host of new shops to Oldham.
Plans have been submitted by Copley Square (Chadderton) Ltd and if approved work is expected to start in December.
The site for the new shops, at the junction of Chadderton Way and Featherstall Road, has been designed by architects Hall Needham.
Land is currently occupied by Wickes who will take over a store in the new development along with food retailer Aldi.
Future tenants are to be announced. Proposals also include car parking. Peter Kashem, property director of Copley Square, said: “Copley Square has been investing in the Oldham community since 1973 with a number of projects throughout the borough.
“We recognise great potential in the area and hope the regeneration of this gateway site will be reassuring news for the local community in these uncertain economic times.
“The new development will not only help to raise the profile of the area but will bring much-needed job opportunities and revenue by way of business rates to Oldham Council.”
Copley Square is a privately-owned property investment company, based in Altrincham, Cheshire, which specialises in commercial and retail development throughout the North-West.
