Youngsters build on career options
Date published: 31 October 2008
Young people with hopes of a career in the construction industry were given a leg up the jobs ladder with first-hand experience of building work.
Social landlord Contour Homes staged a construction taster session at the Tenants Hall, First Avenue, Limeside.
Youngsters tried their hand at the basics of plastering, tiling, woodwork and other skills as well as talking to key employees from the construction industry.
There was also advice available about financial support and college courses in the region.
Contour Homes spokeswoman Shanine Meadowcroft said: “Visitors to the event got a real feel for what they can expect from an apprenticeship or a career in construction which can often provide excellent job opportunities.”
