Euro medal honour for academic John

A FORMER Oldham councillor and leading university academic has been awarded a medal for his work in Europe.
Dr John Anchor, the head of the Huddersfield University department of strategy and marketing, was presented with the celebration medal from the University of Rzeszow in Poland.
He was rewarded for his contribution to the development of its faculty of economics.
The medal follows a string of awards presented to the former housing committee chairman over the past 18 months.
They include awards from three of the university’s Czech partners in Brno, Liberec and Ostrava.
John, who lives in Moorside, was presented with the medal in recognition of his outstanding assistance and dedication to furthering international co-operation.
He said: “I am absolutely delighted.”
John has research interests in banking, defence, retailing, education, housing and local government.
He was a local councillor until May last year when he stepped down after 21 years service. He was also a school governor and also a board member of First Choice Homes Oldham.
