OLDHAM'S tree: just in time for bonfire night
IT might be only Bonfire Night tomorrow, but Christmas trees are already going up in Oldham. The town centre is getting ready for three important visitors in the next few days.
Father Christmas and his reindeer sleigh makes his first appearance in the town centre on Saturday when he will be joined by The Snowman, made famous in the Raymond Briggs children’s books and TV film.
Then, on November 16, Santa is back again with international superstar Noddy, who will be lighting up the town when he throws the switch for the Christmas illuminations.
Photographer Tony Miller snapped workmen setting the giant tree into place at Rhodes Bank yesterday, helped by a large crane.
