OLDHAM Athletic captain Sean Gregan has been breath-tested and arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
The 34-year-old skipper was pulled over by police in Rochdale one morning last month.
He was breath-tested and taken to the cells at Rochdale Police Station.
Gregan, who lives in Harrogate, has been bailed until December 3. He has not been charged.
Gregan (34) signed for Latics from Leeds United in November, 2006, and soon became a key member of the team. He is a former Premier League player whose previous clubs also include Darlington, Preston and West Bromwich Albion.
A central defender, he became Latics’ captain in 2007 and has played over 600 league and cup games since making his debut for Darlington in the 1991-92 season. Gregan is a well known and respected figure in the game.
Oldham Athletic chief executive Alan Hardy said: “We are aware of the situation. Sean has kept the club informed and we are waiting for more details before we make any comment.”
