Family tribute to Mark
Date published: 06 November 2008
THE family of Mark Bloomfield, whose body was found in Failsworth on Monday, have paid tribute to him.
The 42-year-old, who lived in a flat in Oldham Road, close to the Failsworth Pole, died when he fell over and cut his wrist on a broken vase.
His landlord found his body when he visited the flat. It is believed Mr Bloomfield had been dead for around three weeks.
A family member said: “Mark was an alcoholic and he was on medication for pain in his hips.
“He fell over and cut the main artery in his wrist and the police say his death would have been very quick so he would not have been in pain.
“It took the police a while to track down his family members as he has never been married or had children but he had a lot of friends and was a regular in the pubs around the Failsworth Pole.
“We think he was suffering with schizophrenia but this had never been properly diagnosed and he was not receiving treatment for it.”
