Machete threat to cash guard
Date published: 10 November 2008
A MASKED robber threatened a delivery guard with a machete outside the Royal Bank Of Scotland, in Mossley, before making off with the cash box he was carrying.
The raider, who got away with a substantial amount of money, struck at 10.50am on Thursday.
When confronted, the guard dropped the box and ran into the bank. The offender picked up the box and made off in a gold Ford Mondeo.
The car, stolen from Royton, sped from the scene and was later found abandoned in a field.
The security guard was not hurt in the incident but was left extremely shaken.
Detectives have only an initial description so far that the raider was tall of medium build and dressed in black. Anyone with information should call Tameside CID on 0161-856 9254.
