Children’s centre invite
Date published: 11 November 2008
HAVE your say on services for children at the new Alexandra children’s centre tomorrow.
Oldham residents will be given the opportunity to take a look around the base in Wildmoor Avenue, Holts, between 10am and 2pm.
Visitors can then share their views on what they would like to see from the centre in the future, as well as gain a better understanding of what is currently available.
The children’s centre team and Oldham Council’s Early Intervention and Prevention Service are encouraging parents, children and representatives to come along and have their say.
There will also be the opportunity to meet with partner agencies to find out more about their services.
Organisations attending will include Bookstart, the Family Information Service, the Oral Health team, Work Solutions, H20, Lifelong Learning and the Additional Educational Needs team. A district nurse will be on hand to give advice on breastfeeding.
Maria Greenwood, head of Early Intervention and the Prevention Service, said: “Children’s centres are vital in our strategy for improving outcomes for children, working in collaboration with our partners and the communities served.
“We hope that this consultation will give us a greater insight into what is wanted from the community so the centres can be developed into even more valuable resources.”
Councillor Kay Knox, Cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “We hope this event is as well attended as others have been.
“These consultations provide an excellent opportunity for children’s centre staff, partner agencies and the community to come together and learn from one another.”
