Anger over C-charge ad
Date published: 12 November 2008
GREEN campaigners are writing to the Commons Speaker to demand the removal of a motion by MPs who are in a snap, crackle and pop over congestion charging.
Heywood Labour MP Jim Dobbin has signed the early day motion drawn up by Conservative Graham Brady, MP for Altrincham and Sale West accusing Clean Air Now of “inappropriate use of public funds” when it took out a £6,000 newspaper advert criticising cereal makers Kellogg’s for its road pricing opposition.
The motion says Clean Air Now receives funds from a number of public bodies. Clean Air Now insisted today that it is not and never has been publicly funded. A Kellogg’s spokesman said the firm was in touch with Clean Air Now and did not want to comment.
