Please help us find Charlie!

A HEARTBROKEN Hathershaw family are appealing to Oldhamers to help find their beloved Cavalier King Charles spaniel, which has been missing for six days.

Charlie, who is 18 months old, was inadvertently let out of the house last Friday, and Caroline Johnstone and her family have been frantically searching for him ever since.

And the loss of their pet is yet more heartache for Caroline’s youngest children, Leah (7) and Daniel (9), who were both diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year.

Caroline said: “Charlie is an absolutely fantastic dog and he’s wonderful with children.

“They cried their eyes out when they found out he’d gone.”

Daniel said: “I love Charlie a lot, I just want him to come back.”

Little Leah added: “Charlie cheered me up a lot when I was very ill. He’s lovely.”

The family are particularly concerned because little Charlie broke his two front legs in an accident when he was three months old and needs regular veterinary treatment to ease his pain and help his movement.

Caroline said: “Charlie had his front legs pinned after the accident and so he’s not allowed out without us, because he’s not very mobile and the roads are very busy around here. I only popped out for a second to get some parts for workmen at our home. When I came back the door was open and Charlie had disappeared.

The family, from Belgrave Avenue, have since plastered missing posters all over Hathershaw, knocked on doors, and phoned numerous dogs homes in an attempt to track Charlie down.

Caroline, who also has another son, Adam (14), said: “It’s been a dreadful year. Leah and Daniel were seriously ill, I had an operation and my mum got burgled and then just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, Charlie went missing.

“We just want him home. He’s a huge part of our family and the house just isn’t the same without him.”

The family are offering a reward for Charlie’s safe return and anyone who sees him can contact the family on a range of numbers, including: 07530 791841, 07832 880774, 07919 627069 or 0161-620 9601.
