ART students at the Oldham College have come up with a creative way to brighten up a new Chadderton building.
Pupils on the National Diploma fine art course have painted a mural to cover the hoardings at the new health and well-being centre until it opens next autumn.
The multi-million pound centre will bring together a range of services and facilities under one roof including a 25-metre swimming pool, library, community meeting rooms and a fitness suite.
To create the mural, students spoke to people about their memories and experiences of Chadderton landmarks such as the library and former swimming pool.
The project was sponsored by Oldham Council and Community 1st Oldham as part of an ongoing arts and community involvement programme which aims to promote the talents of young people.
The new well-being centre planned for Chadderton is being led by Oldham Council and is being developed as part of the award-winning LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust).
Neil Charlesworth, general manager of Community 1st Oldham, said: “In all our LIFT schemes we aim to engage and include members of the community in a number of activities around the new development.
“This is another project which recognises the talent in Oldham and is a great record of the history and the future plans for the area.”
