Weapons car — 3 held
Date published: 17 November 2008
THREE men, whose car was loaded with weapons, have been arrested after officers suspected they were targeting a cash in transit delivery.
They were held after officers stopped a Skoda Octavia in Oldham at 1.30am on Friday.
At around 11.30pm on Thursday, officers accompanied a delivery to a Rochdale bank. Patrols approached the car and asked the men what they were doing.
They later approached the vehicle again, but the occupants drove away, only to be spotted later in Failsworth. A search of the car revealed an axe, a lump hammer, a crowbar, gloves and a mask.
The arrests form part of Operation Vanguard, an initiative to try to disrupt robbers who target cash in transit robberies.
