A ROYTON beauty is in the running to be crowned Miss England 2009 — and is appealing to Chronicle readers to help her make her dreams come true.

Jenni Meanock is in the quarter finals of the Miss Fresh Photographic section of the competition and needs public votes to make it to the semis.

Jenni has pledged to donate a portion of her winnings to Dr Kershaw’s Hospice if she wins the competition.

The 19-year-old, of Holden Fold Lane, was one of thousands of women who applied, but her photograph caught the eye of organisers and she was selected to attend a photoshoot in Watford.

Jenni is among 27 contestants whose picture has been put on a website and she needs to be voted into the top 10 to make it to the next stage at Birmingham’s Clothes Show Live exhibition on December 6. There, one woman will be chosen to compete in the Miss England final next June. The eventual winner will go on to challenge for Miss World.

The beauty therapist is looking to go into nursing, while modelling part-time.

She said: “I was never really that confident of having my picture taken but I’m getting a lot better. I’m dead excited. “I’m in first place at the moment but I need around 1,500 votes.”

Jenni will get her first taste of the glamour involved tonight while modelling with “Coronation Street” and “Hollyoaks” stars in a charity fashion show for the NSPCC at Manchester’s Harvey Nichols store.
