ROYTON Air Training Corps put in an impressive display at the National Marching Band Championships at RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire.

And the squadron, which was representing the Northern area, received the Air Commodore’s Trophy from Air Commodore Ian Stewart.

Their work included fanfare, percussion and ensemble sections as well as separate contests for solo bugle and solo drummer.

Instructor Pete Southern said: “We were delighted to make it through to the finals.

“Everyone in the corps worked incredibly hard. We loved taking part and we are delighted to have won the Air Commodore’s award, which is presented annually to a squadron in recognition of its performance and progression throughout the year.”
