Cricket assault probe

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into the assault of an off-duty policeman who was punched repeatedly in the face at the Saddleworth and District Cricket League dinner.
The officer suffered swelling and scratches to his face at Clough Manor, Rochdale Road, Denshaw.
Police are looking to question a man in connection with the incident which happened at 11.45pm last Friday.
No arrests have been made and inquiries are on-going.
Cricket league officials are also looking into the incident.
