Heyside yobs are caught on camera

YOBS who have been causing trouble in Heyside might find themselves in the glare of unwanted attention if they step out of line again.
The area around Bullcote Green, once the haunt of up to 100 youths on Friday and Saturday nights, has calmed down following intensive work by the Royton neighbourhood policing team.
And the tearaways have been warned that the police have evidence of their antics on camera.
If they return to Heyside, the police will call parents and children into schools and play the footage to bring home to young people how intimidating they can be when they gather in large groups.
The stark reality of the effect of drugs was also brought home to pupils at Royton and Crompton School, when police organised a combating crime workshop. They heard from a father whose son had been addicted to drugs and later killed himself in prison.
The workshop proved so effective that the school will be looking to repeat it every year.
