Hathershaw girl Chealsie Conway proved she has the grace and finesse to beat the best after being crowned the Carnival Princess of Great Britain.
Counthill pupil Chealsie (14) will spend the next two years attending charity events and carnivals up and down the country after wowing judges at St Herbert’s Parish Hall in Chadderton.
Chealsie sashayed across the floor in her smart daywear and then in her posh evening gown.
She went on to impress the judging panel by telling them about her ambition to be a vet and her wide range of interests, including sport and dancing.
Chealsie’s grandmother, Susan Butterworth (56), from Waterhead, said: “We’re all on cloud nine. It will take a lot of commitment and work from Chealsie, but we’re confident she’ll do a great job.”
A natural performer, Chealsie has been a dancer since the tender age of 18 months, regularly entering competitions as part of the Oldham Royelles dance troupe.
