Girls with talent for sums
Date published: 27 November 2008
Gifted and talented primary school girls from across the borough took part in a maths day at Mayfield School, Oldham.
Some of the activities involved creating three dimensional shapes, discussing famous women mathematicians, including Carol Vorderman, to help raise interest in maths.
Councillor Kay Knox, cabinet member for children, young people and families, said: “The council is committed to raising the profile of mathematics and meeting the needs of gifted and talented children.
“Working with girls from other schools will help increase their confidence and team working skills.”
