Proud to wear the red rose

Celebrating Lancashire Day at Chadderton Town Hall.
HEAR ye! Hear ye! People are being urged to show their true colours today by wearing a red rose.
Lancashire Day is traditionally celebrated on November 27 but proud Chaddertonians held their event and declared their loyalty a day early.
Town crier Red Lord led a colourful group around the town centre, reading the Lancashire Proclamation at five locations.
This reminds people from the Furness Fells to the Mersey and the Irish Sea to the Pennines that they are still part of the County Palatine of Lancaster.
It was also the first outing for the new Lancashire flag.
The traditional design of a red rose on a white background has already been registered by Montrose in Scotland, so the Friends of Real Lancashire have adopted yellow background to reflect the county coat of arms.
