Centre hopes to net donations

THE Oldham Millennium Centre desperately needs funding if it is to keep a girls’ netball session running.
Sian Turner from the Featherstall Road venue is asking businesses to bridge the gap with sponsorship.
She said: “Work is always done to get the boys off the streets but we need help for the girls as well.
“I run Business Watch meetings and some of the concerns raised are that young people hanging around the streets, getting into trouble, include girls. So we wondered if they wanted to make a contribution to some of the activities we are running, because we are short of funding.
“We have up to 18 girls, aged from six to 16, attending the netball sessions but we can’t develop them further.”
Anyone who can help should call Chris Cordwell or Sian Turner on 0161-622 3812.
