OLDHAM Council’s attempts to become a greener authority have been given a boost.
A bid by the council to the Energy Saving Trust for a two-year support programme has been successful.
It will now receive two years of free intensive support in tackling climate change and reducing carbon emissions.
In the second year, expert advice will be given on applying for grants that are available to fund further work.
Councillor Mark Alcock, Cabinet member for the environment and infrastructure said: “This is good news for Oldham Council.
“The Energy Saving Trust has specifically stated that it was impressed by the motivation of Oldham Council as well as its dedication so far in encouraging energy efficiency issues.
“Any and all assistance that the council can get in improving energy efficiency is to welcomed as it enables more money to be spent on better services for all.”
