Spillage shuts motorway
Date published: 01 December 2008
THE M62 westbound was closed and traffic diverted on to local roads in Saddleworth on Friday morning after a 400-litre diesel spillage.
The 9.30am incident happened between junction 22 at Saddleworth and junction 21 at Milnrow.
Highways Agency traffic officers and Greater Manchester Police put diversion routes in place via the local road network.
Contractors gritted and swept the carriageway to clear the fuel which spilt across 400 metres of road.
At the peak of the delays, traffic was back to Junction 24, Ainley Top, near Huddersfield.
