A MAN was threatened with a sword by would-be car-jackers in Oldham.
The victim had left a local supermarket with a woman at around 11.10pm last Friday and was approaching his car in Union Street when a black Jeep-style vehicle drove up.
The man in the front seat got out and threatened the victim with a sword, demanding the keys to his car. Two other offenders also got out of the vehicle.
The victim tried to grab at the sword to protect himself and cut his fingers.
He managed to run back into the shop but dropped his mobile phone as he did so.
The offenders, who fled without taking the car, were all wearing balaclavas and were described as Asian, but there was no further description.
Det Con Mike Hayman, of Oldham CID, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victim, who was lucky not to receive more serious injuries.
“If anyone was in the Union Street area at the time or has any information please get in touch as these dangerous individuals need to be caught.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161-856 8951 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800-555 111.
