PROFESSIONAL musician Grenville Moore has been tasked to lead of one of Saddleworth’s top bands.
Mr Moore, who lives in Stalybridge, has been appointed musical director of Dobcross Silver Band.
For 25 years he was a professional horn player — for 20 of them with the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast.
Now he teaches music at St George’s RC High School, in Salford.
Mr Moore has played for Brighouse and Rastrick and is still playing for the Hepworth Band, near Holmfirth. He has also played a couple of seasons on cornet for the Dobcross band.
Mr Moore is a member of a musical family — his son, 12-year-old Peter, is currently BBC Musician of the Year.
His wife Jane, teaches music in Didsbury, and twins David and Helen are also following a musical path with David at the Royal College of Music, Manchester, and Helen studying music at Manchester University.
