FOUR young musicians proved they have all that jazz when they performed at a world-famous venue.

Oldham Music Centre students Joseph Donmall, Adele Grogan and Andrew Ashurst took part in a gala concert at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London, after scooping awards in the Future Champions competition.

They were joined by Farhaan Shah from the centre who showed off his beat boxing.

The charity Future Talent ran the competition with the Hallé Orchestra and Oldham was one of only two music services in the UK selected to take part.

Cellist Joseph won a gold award, alto saxophonist Adele Grogan a silver and cornetist Andrew a bronze.

Farhaan was invited to take part after he was singled out for praise by Hallé education officer Steve Pickett.

Gerard Booth from Oldham Music Centre said: “The students all absolutely excelled themselves in the evening’s show, to such an extent that they were invited back to perform in an unscheduled jam with the phenomenal house band.

“And Adele’s sax playing was so good that she was invited to play with the band on a third occasion towards the end of the evening.”

Councillor Kay Knox, cabinet member for children, young people and families, added: “To appear at a prestigious venue such as Ronnie Scott’s is an amazing achievement for the four young people, and further testimony to the outstanding system of musical education we have at the Oldham Music Centre.”
