Man held over assault

A 25-year-old man has been charged after a man was left in a critical condition following an attack in Oldham town centre.
Daniel McGuire, of Merryfield Grange, Bolton, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm and will appear before Oldham magistrates on January 26, 2009.
Police were called to Fairbottom Street on Sunday, following reports that a 26-year-old man had been assaulted.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries where he remains in a critical, but stable condition.
