Could you give an abandoned animal the home and love it needs?

Make a Christmas wish come true for one — or two — abandoned animals.
Staff at Oldham’s RSPCA Rhodes Bank centre are full to bursting with adult cats and dogs, puppies and kittens, and hope to find loving homes for them all this Christmas.
An eight-strong litter of collie-cross pups was handed over last week after their owner couldn’t cope with them.
A litter of kittens was brought in with two siblings after mum gave birth unexpectedly.
And the cats — which come as a pair — are hoping to be rehomed as soon as possible as they have been living at the centre for almost a year. The buddies were found in an unoccupied house and are quite timid, but will grow more affectionate as trust builds
Mandy Tierney, manager at the Rhodes Bank centre, said: “We are absolutely overrun with animals at the moment, which is stretching our finances to breaking point.
“I would encourage everyone to consider visiting one of our charity shops when it comes to picking up a few cheap Christmas presents.
“We have shops in the town centre, Lees, Springhead, Uppermill and Shaw and if it wasn’t for the money coming in from them, we wouldn’t survive.”
But if you want a new pet you’ll really have to want it: the centre has stopped rehoming animals in a bid to prevent people buying pets as presents, then abandoning them after Christmas.
But it will be business as usual in the New Year.
