Date published: 19 December 2008
FESTIVE favourites rang out from Oldham Parish Church during the annual Oldham Evening Chronicle Festival of Carols.
It was standing room only during the popular event as a packed congregation joined in the fundraising concert.
Traditional carols such as “The First Noel” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful” were sung, with Les Garner playing the organ and bella soprano Lorraine Harris-Roche performing.
Joining in the celebrations were the Oldham International Choir, Dobcross Holy Trinity School Choir and Thorp Primary School Choir, from Royton.
The Oldham Band (Lees) also took part, as did pupils from St Joseph’s School Choral Speaking group, the Musical Friends and Christine Taylor, who gave a reading.
The event was held in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
