CHILDREN at East Crompton St George’s School were crowned winners of a Christmas tree competition with a difference.
The youngsters decided to decorate their tree with recycled plastic cups and bottles for a special Christmas tree festival at St Saviour’s Church, Shaw.
Different community groups were also invited to decorate a tree of their own which went on display on the day.
Teaching assistant Nicola Lord said: “We have previously been awarded the Green Flag award and where possible we look for opportunities to use our recycling skills.
“We also investigated facts about water, making people more aware of its importance at home and around the world.”
