All work together

LOCAL businesses have been given the chance to become suppliers to the council.
Traders and council officers came together at Chadderton Town Hall for a Meet The Buyer event to discuss how they could work together.
And Clive Newton, managing director of Emanuel Whittaker, one of the council’s core building and construction suppliers, spoke about his experiences.
Councillor Lynne Thompson, cabinet member for finance and resources, said: “The council is committed to ensuring that local companies are given as much opportunity as possible to get involved with council procurement.
“Annually, the council spends on average of £190 million buying a huge range of products to supply the 800- plus services that it provides to local residents.
“Though procurement over a certain level is subject to European regulation, there are still many ways for local businesses to successfully get involved, as Clive Newton spelt out.”
Any organisation who missed the event but would like to get involved should call Martin Powell on 0161 770 1260 or send an e-mail to meetthebuyer@oldham.gov.uk.
