Youngsters set police cars on fire

ARSONISTS started a blaze which destroyed two cars and damaged a building at Newton Heath police station.
A Ford Fiesta was set alight at 1am yesterday in a yard. The blaze spread to a van parked close by and then to the station, scorching to the wall and damaging the roof and guttering.
No one was injured during the blaze as the station was not open. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It is believed two teenage boys, one on a motorbike, were seen fleeing the scene.
Neighbourhood Police Inspector Chris Hadfield said: “This was a deliberate attack on our police station and two vehicles were completely engulfed in flames and destroyed.
“The fire did spread to the police station but luckily it only caused minor damage.”
