Police aiming to keep Christmas cheerful made 70 arrests across Greater Manchester.
A force-wide day of action targeted alcohol-related crime and disorder on Friday — traditionally the busiest day for Christmas parties.
The sweep’s aim was to cut violence, irresponsible drinking, anti-social behaviour and domestic abuse.
Officers were busy across Greater Manchester, with high-visibility patrols. More than 150 licensed premises and 70 off-licenses were visited during the evening.
Some 150 stop searches were made with 39 members of the public having alcohol seized.
Police domestic abuse teams were also out on patrol, visiting 50 repeat victims. A total of 26 arrests were made.
Other arrests were for public order, being drunk and disorderly, breach of bail, criminal damage and assault.
Chief Inspector Anthony Simpson said: “This day of action was successful in getting our message across to those who came out to enjoy the festivities at the weekend.
“We will continue to fight violence and alcohol-related crime into the new year.
“The law-abiding majority of residents in our communities can rest assured that we will continue to make Greater Manchester a safer place.”
