Victor Andre — Homeless World Cup England team
A TALENTED Oldham footballer helped take England to the quarter final of the Homeless World Cup, losing though in traditional England style — in a penalty shoot-out.
Victor Andre (19) was homeless in Oldham but was encouraged to try for the squad by Threshold, a homeless support group based in Oldham, and was picked to represent the nation at the tournament held in Melbourne earlier this month.
The team progressed well through the competition beating Italy, Ireland, Ethiopia and Brazil with ease. But they came unstuck against Scotland. Afghanistan went on to triumph in the tournament featuring 54 nations.
Since his call up to the homeless national team, Victor has turned his life around, recently being offered his own flat.
