THIRTEEN members of staff were made redundant from Pullman Fleet Services in Chadderton yesterday.

The job losses are as a direct result of the Woolworths closures, according to owners Wincanton Logistics, the Doncaster-based transport group.

The jobs have gone from the Broadway Business Park site at Broadgate, which is a repair and maintenance depot for a number of Wincanton clients.

A spokesman for Pullman said: “The job losses follow discussions with the administrators of the Woolworths group.

“They have informed us that they will no longer be requiring fleet distribution services. As a result, 13 people have left the business.”

Some 31 workers continue to be employed by Pullman at Broadgate on a number of fleet service operations.

Four staff were made redundant from the depot four years ago.

Meanwhile, staff at the Adams Kids store in Oldham are anxiously awaiting news on their future after the national chain announced it was facing administration.

The store, on the lower mall of the Spindles shopping centre, employs two full-time and 11 part-time staff. Workers were unable to comment on the situation, saying they were awaiting a formal announcement this week.

Staff did confirm to the Chronicle that the store had enjoyed good Christmas trading on the back of a good Eid period.

Adams, a 75-year-old children’s wear brand which has around 500 UK outlets and employs more than 2,000 staff across the country, was bought out of administration in February, last year, when 42 stores were closed.
