CADETS from Royton were given an insight into Army life at a medical training weekend.

They learned basic Army medical skills, including ambulance casualty drills and first aid, with Chorley Territorial Medical Unit C64 Medical Squadron.

They also developed their basic soldiering in tasks ranging from patrolling through to living in the field.

Sergeant Alexander, of the Oldham Army Careers Information Office, said: “This was a very well put together training programme which gave the cadets an insight into life in the Army.

“It highlighted the importance of the cadets within the armed forces and was a fantastic opportunity to help equip the youngsters involved with the determination and motivation needed to succeed in a specialised career within the British Army.”
