FORMER Det Supt Tony Brett, who has been with Greater Manchester Police for 30 years, has been given a Queen’s Police Medal (QPM) in the New Year Honours list.
Mr Brett retired in 2008 and is now involved in developing systems to deal with national and international crime.
During his career, Mr Brett co-ordinated Greater Manchester’s major incident team and handled large scale operations and the abduction of a schoolgirl by Toby Studabaker in 2002.
The father of three said: “I am thrilled. It came as a big surprise and is a great start to the New Year.”
