At last . . . tinned-up houses to go

London Road and Ramsey Street, ready for demolition.
Two blocks of tinned-up houses in Derker are at last to be demolished by Oldham Council.
The council has decided to flatten houses which it owns ahead of major demolitions in the Housing Market Renewal area.
The houses, bought by agreement, are 12 in London Road and five in Ramsey Street.
The £11,900 contract for knocking them down has gone to Reddish Demolition.
Last week, the Chronicle reported how fed-up local residents said living in Derker resembles a war zone.
They are appealing for Derker Action Group members to give up their fight to save their homes from CPO orders, and let the council press on with regeneration plans.
