CHEERS . . . Up Steps manager Rachael Wren pulls a 99p pint
DRINKERS in Oldham can now drink at 1989 prices after two pubs slashed the price of a pint to 99p.
The Up Steps Inn, in High Street, and The Squire Knott, Yorkshire Street, dropped the price of five drinks from today, and the offers will run indefinitely.
The pubs, run by JD Wetherspoons, will offer a pint of Greene King IPA and a bottle of San Miguel each for 99p.
Other offers include a bottle of Blossom Hill rose wine for £4.99, and a single measure of Sailor Jerry rum and mixer for £1.29.
Meals are also available for £2.99.
Rachel Wren, manager at The Up Steps, said: “I believe that the new drink and food prices will allow people to enjoy a visit to the pub without it costing them too much.
“As always, staff will serve customers responsibly.”
Alcohol campaigners Alcohol Concern called on Wetherspoon to cancel the national promotion.
Dan Shenker, chief executive, said: “We would rather see pubs lower the price of their soft drinks instead.”
