IN bloom . . . Jenny tends her garden
KEEN gardener Jenny Walker is marvelling at amazing early blooms which gave her a New Year rose and flowering narcissi — despite freezing cold weather.
Jenny couldn’t believe her eyes when she spotted the brave blooms in the garden of her home in Wellington Road, Oldham. A deep red rose and a nodding yellow narcissi gave a splash of colour, with a further clump of narcissi about to burst into flower, and crocus on the verge of producing buds.
“I deadhead my roses in late summer, so I always have roses flowering throughout the winter,” said Jenny, “but I am absolutely amazed at this.
“I don’t know what is going on with the flowers at all,” added the delighted 61-year-old.
