Demolition marks the end of an era
Date published: 06 January 2009
ONE of Oldham’s historic industrial buildings has been demolished, changing the town’s landscape for ever.
Tubiton House in Brook Street was home to Medlock Medical — formerly Seton’s — before some parts of the company relocated to Irlam in 2006.
Seton’s became world famous as the company which developed the Tubigrip tubular bandage, devised by the company’s founder Norman Stoller, in 1952. The dome-topped building, which was known for its grand interiors, fronted the manufacturing plant which is still producing medical equipment under its current name, Molnlycke Healthcare.
