Roll-up to reveal your talent
Date published: 07 January 2009
SADDLEWORTH is set to sing and dance its way through the recession with its own version of TV’s “Britain’s Got Talent”.
The credit crunch should seem miles away as residents reveal their talents, according to organiser Linda Finan.
Linda’s confidence in the skills of Saddleworth folk comes from her role as manager of Boarshurst Band Club, Greenfield, one of a series of music-led venues dotted around the district.
The district is already famed for its band contest and beer walks and the show is tipped as a future claim to fame.
Linda said “There is a lot of talent in Saddleworth and we aim to show it off. Many will already take part in smaller groups. But we want to bring them out individually.”
Like its big brother, Saddleworth’s Got Talent will feature celebrity judges selecting the best from a series of heats at the Greenbridge Lane club.
A first price of £200 is offered and the winner can stage a live performance at Oldham Carnival on June 27.
Posters are going up around the district and the final registration date is January 31. Inquiries to Boarshurst Band Club on 01457-875836.
