Concerned neighbours object to housing plan

WORRIED neighbours have attacked plans to demolish a large detached house and build seven new homes in its place.
Disused Inniscarra, off Lynwood Drive, Greenacres, was built around 55 years ago for the Oldham Fire Brigade medical officer.
Hallmark Properties has now applied to knock the house down and build three pairs of semi-detached houses and one detached home on the site.
But nine neighbours have sent objections to the planning department and the application will now have to be decided by councillors on the planning committee.
The applicant says the unadopted road leading to the house, which will be widened under the plans, is owned by the house.
Other properties have a legal right of passage, and share maintenance.
Objectors are concerned about the increased use of the road and highway safety, and say the site is too small to accommodate seven homes.
They also object to loss of privacy, outlook and increased noise.
Council planning staff say the committee will have to consider if the access, which would be resurfaced and widened for two-way traffic, is suitable.
The closeness of the new homes to existing houses is also a potential issue.
Part of the site is council-owned, which will also have to be investigated.
A spokesman for Hallmark Properties said: “The design is based upon the need to utilise a large, redundant garden area for medium-priced family houses within an established residential area.”
