Radclyffes back at Foxdenton Hall

FORMER lords of the manor have been welcomed back to Foxdenton Hall.

Ten portraits of the Radclyffe family now grace the walls of the Chadderton jewel thanks to the Friends of Foxdenton.

The group of volunteers, who run the historic hall, paid £1,800 to have the reproductions mounted in ornate frames.

And the subjects certainly have some colourful tales to tell with the likes of Sir William Radclyffe, who was killed during the Civil War; Robert Radclyffe, who died in a duel; and big game hunter Major Charles Robert Eustace Radclyffe, the last Lord of the Manor of Chadderton and Foxdenton.

Gill Stevenson, secretary of the friends group, said: “It’s bringing them back home.”
