YOUNGSTERS at Greenfield St Mary’s Primary can’t get enough of the classroom.

And their good work has been rewarded as they have scored the borough’s best attendance rate for the second year running.

Head teacher Helen Rowland said: “We are delighted to have achieved the highest attendance in Oldham for the second year running and are very grateful to the parents who support us by ensuring their children come to school every day they are well enough to attend.

“Through our creative curriculum we endeavour to make learning exciting and meaningful so that all children are keen to learn and discover more. We have a positive approach to attendance.

“Children are rewarded with stickers for 100 per cent attendance each week. The class with the highest attendance each week receives a trophy. Each term and year, 100 per cent attendance is rewarded with special certificates.

Year 6 pupils Laura Bailey, Sarah Hayes, George Kilgour and George Whittaker said: “We feel very proud that our school is so well attended.

“We love coming to school because the teachers make the lessons fun.

“We have a really exciting outdoor environment to play in so playtimes are fun too.”

“We are a healthy school and we’re going to try and make it a hat trick by eating healthy food and exercising regularly.”
