Father and son’s robbery terror
Date published: 09 January 2009
A FATHER and son were assaulted during an armed robbery at their home in Middleton.
Five men armed with baseball bats forced their way into the house in Mossway at 11.30pm on Tuesday.
The 52- year-old man and his 22-year-old son confronted the gang and tried to push the attackers out of the house.
The father was hit over the back of the head with a bat and his son was kicked a number of times.
The offenders grabbed a set of car keys and stole the red Honda Civic Type R parked outside.
The car has black tinted windows and chrome alloy wheels with BK Racing on the centre caps. The registration plate, which is KD02 HTC, also has chrome around it.
The 52-year-old man had to have his head stapled as a result of the attack and his son suffered bruising.
PC Michael Berger, from the robbery unit, said: “This was a vicious attack in the victim’s own home and they have been left extremely shaken by the ordeal.
“The car stolen is very distinctive and although you may not live in the area, you may have seen it drive past — if so, please call me.
“This is clearly a dangerous group of men who are willing to use violence to get what they want and it is vital we catch them before they harm anyone else.”
One of the men is described as white with pale skin, aged 17 to 18 years old, with an oval-shaped face, short, dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a long, thin nose. The other offenders are described as white, aged 18 to 20 years old, 5ft 7in tall, of slim build with short, dark brown hair.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the robbery unit on 0161-856 8632 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
