STEADY . . . Kate Gardner (11) takes to the ice at St Mary’s Primary School
THE freezing weather saw pupils have a n-ice time at Greenfield’s St Mary’s Primary School.
The school’s PTFA installed an ice rink in the playground on Saturday and the frosty weather provided the perfect backdrop for a winter wonderland.
There were stalls selling hot food and drinks to warm people up, as well as a tombola and lucky dip.
The PTFA works hard to raise more than £10,000 a year.
The money has paid for things like the Trim Trail, trip subsidies and Life Channel screens, and this year it is fundraising to buy laptops for pupils.
But while youngsters enjoyed the fresh air, they also can’t get enough of the classroom at the school as they recently scored the borough’s best attendance rate for the second year running.
