REALITY TV star Kerry Katona is two stones lighter thanks to a former “Coronation Street” actor who has opened a gym in Oldham.
Scott Wright is best known for his two-year stay in Corrie playing Sam Kingston, who famously stripped off in the Rovers Return.
The 34-year-old, whose other television credits include roles in ITV’s “Crossroads” and “Emmerdale”, BBC’s “Doctors” and Channel 4’s “Shameless”, trained Kerry near her home in Alderley Edge.
Scott, who owns Click Film and Television Production Company in Ashton, was put in contact with Kerry, a former member of pop group Atomic Kitten and winner of “Celebrity Jungle” after producing a documentary called “12 Weeks” in which Scott trains to be a body builder.
He has been lifting weights since he was 11, but then had to make sure his body was in great shape for the television roles he played.
He recently bought Heavenly Bodies Fitness Club in Ripponden Road, Moorside, which is undergoing extensive refurbishment.
The new centre, which has been opened by Scott and his wife Kate, features a boxing room, cardio area, pole dancing room and sauna, to name a few.
Scott’s roots go back to Oldham as his family lived here, and his late grandmother lived a few yards away from the gym.
He recalls walking past the building as a child and feels fate has brought him back to it. Scott, who was nominated for a national TV award as most popular newcomer said about his pal Kerry: “She has lost two stones in a month and I’m very impressed with her.
“A lot of the things about her slurring on television and being an alcoholic are not true.
“If you have been on tablets for depression then over time they will have an effect on you. I think she was stitched up.”
Scott, of Hollingworth, is hoping to have a launch event at the gym on February 6, with guests Kerry Katona and Ricky Hatton’s nutritionist Kerry Kaye.
