AN Oldham company is playing a major supporting role in one of television’s most popular programmes.
Sky One’s hit series “Gladiators” returned for a second series this month, with gladiators and contenders all wearing Vulkan padded knee and elbow supports and custom-made tracksuits supplied by Oldham company Mobilis Healthcare.
The Shaw Road company is supplying a selection of supports for all 14 regular stars and six new muscle-bound gladiators — Amazon, Doom, Siren, Goliath, Warrior and Cyclone.
Twenty contenders and various celebrities, Olympians, and former winners appearing in five special editions of the show will also be kitted out in the products.
The company has also produced black, fleece-lined tracksuits, with names printed in silver across the shoulders, for the gladiators and their regular trainers, and bright pink Breakthrough Breast Cancer T-shirts for a pre-season photo call.
Vulkan brand manager Andrew Hawkyard said: “With the show’s emphasis on strength, toughness, speed and agility, ‘Gladiators’ is a perfect showcase for our brand.
“The supports we supplied were all standard products, although understandably the sizes were really huge.
“The purpose-designed products will help protect the gladiators and contestants from injury, during some pretty hectic physical activities.”
“Gladiators” is on Sky One on Sundays, at 6pm.
